You know when I wrote this I didn't think there would be two other stories including Marilyn in the anthology. Looking back I would still write and submit it. Marilyn, to me, is a tragic figure who died as a result of miscommunication. If she or anyone around her knew she was take all the drugs she was taking and sat her down and made her stop she might still be alive. Who knows maybe she would have gone down the path I suggested.

I enjoyed the story, and it is certainly different than the other Alt. America stories that had Marilyn in them. Though MM does show up in 3 stories, she only features prominently in 2, and both of those are very different in nature. Her "appearance" in "What if... The Louisiana Purchase Never Happened" was limited to a mere mention in a newspaper article, so it is certainly a stretch for critics to call it a Marilyn Monroe story (that was more about JFK and Jackie, and the divergent history and politics).

Hello, fellow writers! Yes, I had no intention of writing about Marilyn Monroe in "Louisiana Purchase." Heck, I don't even like Marilyn (blasphemy!), but she was a well-known part of the JFK history, so I used her as a logical means of getting Jackie ticked off at him. Some critics will grasp at pettiness, others petticoats.
